“EDG-2023: How is the election campaign going in Siberia,” said Oleg Matveychev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, at the roundtable of the Expert Institute for Strategic Studies (EISI) on July 20.
According to the expert, the current governor of Khakassia, Valentin Konovalov, is trying to hide and compensate for the shortcomings of his business.
Matveychev noted that the regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, whose representative is the current head of the region, published false materials in the media and Telegram channels against Sergei Sokol, the main gubernatorial candidate of United Russia.
“There is a media source in Khakassia – the republican TV channel RTS, which is used by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation for its own purposes. On this channel, Konovalov is mentioned 18 times more often than all other candidates for governor combined. About 50 unique disinformation-oriented materials were recorded about Sergey Sokol, the main competitor of Konovalov, ”Matveychev added.
The specialist also emphasized that Sokol is an experienced manager with positive experience in both the government and the manufacturing sector:
“Sokol is an anti-crisis executive, a federal-level politician, a member of the president’s team, and has extensive government-level connections. Behind him is the governor’s reserve school, ”said the political scientist.
He also recalled that Sokol was directly involved in a special military operation and volunteered for the front in October last year. In April, the head of state signed a decree conferring the Order of Courage to Sergei Sokol for his dedication in the performance of his state duties.
The expert believes that the anti-crisis manager is exactly what is needed there right now, as Khakassia is a region that needs to be upgraded and where “a catastrophic poverty level situation” has arisen.
It was reported earlier that the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor announced. will require fair calculation of the salaries of teachers of Khakassia after the appeal of deputy Sergei Sokol.
