Pokrovsky, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, warned of the risk of the spread of cholera in Ukraine

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Epidemiologist Vadim Pokrovsky warned of a possible spread of infection in Ukraine, due to the fact that cholera epidemics occur in places where there is no access to high-quality drinking water. It was reported by Radio of Russia.

In his opinion, the main feature of cholera is the absence of fever in the victim, and the disease is expressed in vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration. Those who are infected should be treated with drops and saline solutions to compensate for the loss of water in the body. It is quite difficult to provide these conditions to those in a special military operation zone.

Pokrovsky also added that the water supply systems in the territory of the Donbass were destroyed, which could cause an epidemic of the disease.

The expert reminded that dirty water can cause not only cholera, but also dysentery, typhoid and other diseases.

Previously in Rospotrebnadzor declarationThere is sufficient stock of cholera vaccine in case of an epidemic in Russia.

Also head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova signed Decree on additional measures for the prevention of cholera in the Russian Federation. The task of the decision is to prevent the entry and possible spread of this disease into the country.
