Western officials are blocking decisions on three of the five issues in the grain deal. This is stated in a message published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation after consultations in Geneva on May 9.
The ministry explained that the West has hindered progress in resolving the problems by undermining the section of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, reconnecting Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT and supplying spare parts and equipment.
“In this context, it has been reaffirmed that only the rapid and effective resolution of these problems can help restore unhindered access of Russian food and fertilizers to world markets, in line with the overall global food security goals.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. The report also cites the large number of restrictions faced by Russian agricultural producers and suppliers due to the sanctions. This has a negative impact on prices and physical availability of goods.
