After several years of coronavirus pandemic, the number of cases related to oncology or cardiovascular diseases has increased. Two out of every three payments made under corporate insurance policies against accidents and sickness fall into this disease group, such data was provided by AlfaStrakhovanie analysts. “socialbites.ca” got acquainted with the results of the study.
Thus, almost half of serious illness benefits fall in the 30 to 50 age group, and one in five people who receive insurance benefits have not reached the age of 40. The vast majority (60%) of those with serious health problems are women. Cancer is the absolute “leader” among serious diseases in the applications of accident and sickness insured.
Seven out of ten payments are due to cancer. In 12% of cases, customers with diagnosed cardiovascular disease receive compensation. The number of cases of cerebrovascular diseases (associated with circulatory disorders of cerebral vessels), tuberculosis and multiple sclerosis also increased.
Women are more likely to suffer from cancer – in 80% of cases. Whereas men – at 58%. Cerebrovascular diseases in women and cardiovascular diseases in men take the second place.
In addition, women often suffer from tuberculosis (4%), cardiovascular diseases (3.5%) and multiple sclerosis (2.45%). Men, in addition to the above, are prone to cerebrovascular diseases in 11.5% of cases, as well as kidney disease (1.5%) and multiple sclerosis (1.4%).
Women aged 30-40 (25%) and 40-50 years (30%) are most susceptible to all the risks listed. This age is higher in men: severe diseases often affect the stronger sex (60%) aged 50-70 years.
Oncological diseases are more common between the ages of 30 and 50 (50%), cardiovascular diseases – between 50 and 70 years (77%), cerebrovascular diseases are also more common in the older age group. Tuberculosis is “rejuvenating” – seen in 75% of 30-40 year old users of the accident and sickness insurance program. Another disease of this age is multiple sclerosis.
“Doctors predict exacerbation of a number of diseases caused by changes in immunity after the COVID-19 outbreak. This is largely due to untimely examinations, inadequate treatment, the manifestation of side diseases after suffering a coronavirus infection. Unfortunately, the data of recent years also show that deadly diseases are “rejuvenating”, says Victoria Morozova, head of the corporate accident insurance department at AlfaStrakhovanie.
