SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket launched five Iridium communications satellites and 16 OneWeb satellites into orbit. This was reported on the SpaceX page at: twitter.
The rocket was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Deployment of the Iridium satellites began about an hour after launch, followed by OneWeb devices.
The five Iridium satellites will serve as in-orbit backups to provide voice and data access anywhere on Earth. OneWeb satellites are designed to provide broadband Internet using mobile satellite communications.
