At the Ebeko volcano, located on the Kuril island Paramushir, an emission of ash three km high was recorded. This was announced by the Telegram channel of the Main Directorate of the Sakhalin Region of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia.
At 10:34 am local time, the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences notified the Crisis Management Center that there was an ash release from the Ebeko volcano, seven kilometers away. The city of Severo-Kurilsk at an altitude of 1156 meters. The height of the release was three km. The ash plume extended more than five kilometers to the northeast of the volcano.
According to the emergency services, there is no ashfall in Severo-Kurilsk. Also, the city does not smell of hydrogen sulfide. The Ministry of Emergencies claims that there is no threat to life and health.
Earlier, a significant earthquake was reported near the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka. The shaking occurred at a depth of two kilometers. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.0.
