Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on his Telegram channel that the fire, which broke out on the territory of one of the objects of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the region, was localized: “We begin to deal with what happens next.”
According to the head of the subject, tomorrow, May 2, he will go to the construction site for damage assessment with a working group, “to make the appropriate measurements and start the restoration work.”
The incident occurred on the border of three municipalities – the Borisovsky and Belgorod regions and the Yakovlevsky urban district. The fire damaged seven homes near the military facility. Gladkov promised to restore them as soon as possible, all tools are available for this.
“There is information about a victim among local residents. The injury is minor, not life threatening. All necessary medical assistance is provided,” he said, adding that the residents of the farm are in a safe place.
RIA Novosti correspondent Kirill Rubtsov said that “explosions of different strengths can be heard very clearly” 3-4 km away from the fire. He also suggested that there were several sources of fire at the facility as several smoke explosions were seen.
KP.ru military correspondent Alexander Kots showed on his Telegram channel a video of the fire that his subscribers sent him. The journalist said that the bridge over the Seversky Donets was blocked from both directions.
The Belgorod region is so close to the border with Ukraine that from time to time residents of some regions hear explosions.
“Everything is calm in Belgorod. Voices come from Ukraine”, reads a post by the regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, published on the Vkontakte page on April 30. Belgorod residents also periodically report on the work of the air defense system over the city.
Since the start of Russian special operations in Ukraine, the Belgorod region has been bombed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces more than 10 times.
On April 25, Gladkov reported that the border villages of Nekhoteevka and Zhuravlevka were bombed, forcing him to postpone his business trip to Moscow.
“After the bombing of Zhuravlyovka, 14 households were damaged, somewhere the fences were cut, somewhere the windows were broken, somewhere the roof was broken. We do surveys and measurements. As soon as the situation here calms down, we will help fix everything, ”he wrote on his Telegram channel on April 26.
In Nekhoteevka, four houses, two cars and two farm barns were damaged. Gladkov also noted that he was trying to “convince everyone to leave the village for a safer place”. But not everyone agrees, the governor had to hear categorical refusals: “We will continue to persuade those who never wanted to go.”
On April 26, the governor announced a new bombardment – now in the village of Golovchino, in the Graivoronsky urban district. Several houses were damaged.

“The most important thing for me is that civilians are not harmed. Everything else will be restored. The construction crews are taking the appropriate measurements, installing the windows and restoring the outbuildings,” promised the Governor of the Belgorod Region.
During the entire period of shelling in the area, one person was killed – a military priest, several civilians were injured, more than 300 houses and buildings were damaged. Immortal Regiment regiments were canceled in nine municipalities on the border with Ukraine. In addition, the high (yellow) terrorist threat level in the region has been extended until 10 May. Gladkov also forbade the launching of firecrackers, firecrackers and salutes. The authorities of the Belgorod region will make an additional decision to arrange fireworks on Victory Day.
A high level of terrorist threat remains in the Kursk, Voronezh (two districts) and Bryansk regions.
