Roskomnadzor has established a protocol against Yandex.Food for violating the law on personal data
Roskomnadzor has established an administrative protocol against the Yandex.Food service for violating the law on personal data. RBC reports this with reference to the department.
It should be noted that with regard to the service, a protocol has been established for the leakage of users’ personal information. “The exact amount of the fine will be determined by the court,” the department explained. The amount of the fine can reach 100 thousand rubles.
In addition, the agency restricted access to the site with the map, which posted the data of the users of the resource.
Earlier, the Yandex.Food source commented on reports of user data leaks that appeared in Telegram channels and the media on March 22. They claimed that the personal information of Yandex.Food users, including their phone numbers, names and delivery addresses, was published on a special resource with a map. “We are talking about a leak that Yandex.Food reported on March 1, and notified all affected users by email at the same time,” the company said.
The leak of the Yandex.Food service became known on March 1. The leak of user data occurred as a result of “bad faith” by one of the company’s employees. The agency assured after the incident that it had tightened its approach to storing users’ personal information and also stated that legal action had been taken against the perpetrator.
