A man living in Shanghai was taken to the morgue in a morgue bag.

An elderly resident of a nursing home in Shanghai was mistakenly declared dead and taken to the morgue in a body bag. This has been reported CNN.

Footage taken by a passerby shows the moment several workers dressed in hazmat suits due to COVID-19 jump when they realize the man is still alive – the “dead man”‘s head sticking out from a yellow bag.

On Chinese platform Weibo, many criticized what they saw, especially since Shanghai has long been considered the most progressive and modern city in China.

The county government quickly responded to the incident, stating that the old man is now in stable condition. Three officials from the county civil affairs department and social development department, as well as the head of the nursing home, were dismissed.
