Epidemiologist NI Pirogov at the Clinic of Higher Medical Technologies St. Petersburg State University Lidia Soprun told the agency on April 1 “Hitting the Primer” about foods that can cause diabetes.
He noted that sauces, ketchup, sausages, fast food, preserves, pickles, sushi and wraps are harmful to the body. Also, according to him, there is a lot of sugar in apples, grapes, peaches and dried fruits.
He also noted that sour cream contains less fat, but more carbohydrates than mayonnaise. Also, because of lactose, sour cream’s insulin index is higher than the glycemic index like any dairy product.
Soprun advised to read the composition of the products before buying, taking into account the presence of existing diseases.
Formerly endocrinologist Oksana Mikhaleva statedthat a sharp weight loss may indicate diabetes mellitus and thyrotoxicosis.
