State Duma deputy Olga Zanko, head of the central headquarters of the All-Russian people’s movement “Victory Volunteers”, said that starting today, they have started collecting volunteers to accompany the events in honor of Victory Day in Russia. Zanko announced this at a press conference of the movement, reports TASS.
According to him, the movement plans to train 200,000 volunteers across Russia this year.
“This year we will train a record number of volunteers – 200 thousand people in different cities and towns of our country, including on the territory of our four new subjects. They will probably help organize events dedicated to Victory Day, the most important holiday of our country,” he said.
Zanko noted that one of the main events of Victory Day, accompanied by volunteers, is the Immortal Regiment procession. The head of the headquarters stated that the volunteers will participate in the parades and will also help improve memorial sites and military burials. In addition, volunteers will congratulate veterans of the Great Patriotic War and help organize the “St. George’s Ribbon” and “Memorial Garden” campaigns covering the whole of Russia.
According to Zanko, anyone over the age of 18 can become a Victory Day volunteer. To do this, you need to register on the volunteerspobeda.rf site, go through the online training, then select the event that the volunteer would like to attend and contact the district leader.
