Telegraph: Head of Anglican Church announces threats from British Parliament 14:31

The head of the Anglican Church, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, made threats from the British Parliament. The newspaper writes about it Telegram.

Welby predicted a church would split over the church-imposed decision to consecrate same-sex marriage, and said he received threats from parliament if the church refused to bless marriages between LGBT people.

“As part of our discussions in the Church of England, I spoke of our interdependence among all Christians, not just Anglicans, especially those in the global South where other faiths predominate. As a result, I was summoned to parliament twice and threatened by parliament to force us into same-sex marriage,” he said.

Formerly synod of the Church of England allowed protect same-sex marriages. The vote comes after Council of Europe bishops rejected calls in January to allow same-sex marriage in churches.
