German Defense Ministry Spokesperson Arne Kollatz said that Germany was not aware of Germany’s plans to transfer 18 Leopard 2 tanks, which the Netherlands bought from Germany under the lease agreement, to Ukraine. He told this to reporters DEA News.
“We have no information that the Dutch want to transfer these weapons to Ukraine,” he said.
According to him, the Netherlands had previously leased 18 Leopard 2 tanks from Germany.
Armin Papperger, former general manager of the German military-industrial complex, is interested in Rheinmetall declaration about the readiness to deliver 20-25 Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine this year.
According to Papperger, in 2023-2024 it is planned to deliver 88 tanks of this type to Ukraine after repair.
Rheinmetall also announced its readiness to supply Ukraine with Panther tanks and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles, and also offered to establish a factory for the production of Panther tanks on its territory after the end of the SVO.
According to him, the German companies Rheinmetall and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau, which have a total of more than 160 Leopard 1 tanks, are ready to restore them for supply to Ukraine.
