Arwa Muthana, 30, and her husband, 21, James Bradley, pleaded guilty to “trying to provide financial support to a terrorist organization,” according to the agency. Mutana was subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison and Bradley to 11 years. They will also have to be under the control of law enforcement for 10 years after serving their sentences.
It was stated that Mutana stated during his interrogations that “in the name of Allah, he wanted to fight and kill the Americans”. In conversations with a police agent, Bradley “expressed his desire to stage a terrorist attack in the United States, including discussing the possibility of attacking cadets of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York.”
The couple were arrested while boarding a cargo ship in New Jersey on March 31, 2021. Muthana and Bradley planned to travel to the Middle East and join ISIS.
