All-season resort Sberbank “Manzherok” hosted the Russian Cup stage organized by the Russian Alpine Skiing Federation. This was reported by the press service of the bank.
It was noted that the international tournament “Manzherok Resort Cup”, in which 122 professional athletes from five countries of the world participated, was held for the first time this year within the framework of the Cup: Argentina, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia.
In addition, in recent years, a unique infrastructure has been created at the resort – 22 kilometers of high-quality slopes, three cable cars and a modern snowmaking system. This made it possible to hold competitions at a high level, which was noted by the organizers and participants of the competitions.
“Our all-season resort, Manzherok, is not only a place to relax, but also one of the best ski areas for professional sports. The tracks meet all international standards. We are hosting alpine skiing athletes for the second time and we are very proud that competitions of this size can now be held in Altai. We believe the facility has a great sporting future,” said Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank.
In turn, Valery Tsyganov, Vice-President and Executive Director of the Russian Ski Federation, emphasized that the resort is developing rapidly.
“This is directly evidenced by the preparation for the Russian Cup. If we had gotten used to each other and worked together last year, all these questions have been removed this year. The shuttles work fast, the tracks are prepared with high quality, the team works well. I can confidently say that 2/3 of the Olympic Games program can be held at the facility,” he said.
Chief judge Sergey Kizilov noted that holding the stage of the Russian Cup in the resort town of Manzherok will become a tradition.
“This is an alternative to international competitions. I’m sure the quality will improve over time. We also plan to hold the All-Russian children’s competition, Russia’s Olympic Hope, here at the facility in 2024,” he said.
