Khrunichev Center: USA suspends license to export South Korean satellite to Russia 18:56

Center General Director MV Khrunichev (part of Roskosmos) Alexei Varochko said that the US Department of Commerce has suspended South Korea’s license to export the Kompsat-6 satellite to Russia. It has been reported TASS.

“A satellite cannot be imported to prepare and conduct a launch. The license suspension period is not defined. “This fact once again confirms the impact of sanctions on the economies of the countries participating in them and on international cooperation in space in general,” he said.

At the same time, he noted that the Krunichev Center continues to evaluate possible ways to continue cooperation, taking into account “the realities and features of the modern world.”

Previously Varochko, the center did not receive Notice of termination of the contract for the launch of the South Korean satellite Arirang 6. According to him, there is no direct agreement between Russia and South Korea on this issue, and the launch client is the Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), and the contractor is the American branch of the ILS company Khrunichev Center.
