The politician noted that the Ministry of Health of Russia has already received the WHO award for the most active work to reduce tobacco consumption, and now the next step is the fight against electronic cigarettes.
“We believe e-cigarettes are also an issue that needs to be minimized and indeed removed from the participation of children, particularly the population, but also the population of the country as a whole,” the official said at a government hour at the Federation. The council added that the ministry is “in a position to categorically reduce its use.”
Former State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin instructed relevant committees to make recommendations for a possible ban of electronic cigarettes due to their popularity among children and adolescents.

Shortly before that, the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes approved an increase in excise duties on liquids for cigarettes and cigarettes, heating tobacco and electronic cigarettes, as well as the cancellation of the excise duty on electronic cigarettes from 1 March 2023.
