Two explosions occurred in the city of Melitopol, Zaporozhye region. This was announced on Telegram by Vladimir Rogov, the head of the movement “We are with Russia”.
“So noisy in Melitopol! Around 21:35, two powerful explosions were heard in Melitopol and the nearest suburbs, ”wrote Rogov, promising to give details later.
At the same time, some Telegram channels began to report that a bridge in the village of Konstantinovka, one of the eastern suburbs of Melitopol, was attacked by the Ukrainian army by NATO Himars missile systems.
But after a while, Rogov denied the attack from the MLRS. According to him, the bridge in Konstantinovka was damaged as a result of sabotage.
“Information about the MLRS strike on the bridge in Melitopol has not been confirmed. According to preliminary data, UGIL terrorists placed explosives near the bridge support,” he wrote.
Rogov explained that “terrorists” chose the bridge as a target to disrupt the supply of vital goods such as food, medicine and building materials to the liberated areas of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
He also released several videos showing the sound of the first explosion followed by the situation on the bridge. Judging by the footage, at least one inch of the road crossing sank as a result of the explosion. According to the WarGonzo Telegram channel, one of the bridge slabs “dive” down, but the asphalt on it was unharmed.
On the pro-Ukrainian Telegram channels, the bridge connecting Konstantinovka and Melitopol is called one of the most important transport facilities in the region – Russian troops, among other things, carry military equipment across the bridge.
According to the Yandex.Maps service, this is one of two bridges leading to Konstantinovka – either over the Molochnaya River or over the Kiziyarsky Stream. None of them exceed 150 meters in length.
Later, officials of the Zaporozhye region confirmed to RIA Novosti information about the damage to the bridge. Its design has withstood the blast, but the roadbed has been severely reduced. The administration also said that, according to preliminary information, the incident was caused by explosives placed on the support.
Melitopol management reported that the bridge piers were damaged as a result of the explosion. At the moment, traffic has stopped on it, operational services are running at the scene.
The attack has already been reacted in Kiev. Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, described this operation as the “isolation of the military operating area.”
“We do not allow them to deliver weapons and military equipment on time. Now they will have to take a detour, and that is very good because modern warfare is not about tones, but about rhythms, ”Arestovich explained.
Residents of Melitopol reported on social networks and local Telegram channels that immediately after the explosions, interruptions in mobile communications and the Internet began to appear in some parts of the city.
Pro-Ukraine Telegram news channels reported that while the Ukrainian Armed Forces was planning a large-scale attack in the direction of Zaporozhye, the explosion at the Melitopol bridge aimed to disrupt the logistics of the Russian armed forces. According to the Ukrainian press, explosions were also heard in the Prishib region and on the outskirts of Tokmak.
