Anton Gorelkin, vice-chairman of the State Duma Information Policy Committee, said that educational organizations should stop accepting articles from students citing Wikipedia. DEA News.

“Teachers should stop accepting articles from students citing Wikipedia as a source,” he said.

According to the parliamentarian, it is reasonable not to use the materials of this resource in the educational process, but to use alternative platforms in educational organizations.

Gorelkin noted that Wikipedia, which was previously positioned by its owners as a global humanitarian aid, is now used to wage an information war.

Earlier in August, Russia launched a local Wikipedia analogue called Runiversalis. The project was created by former Wikipedia editors. In the first hours after starting the resource stoped work. Its creators said it was caused by an “abnormal payload” or DDoS attack. The platform is currently operational.
