Industry chatter points to a May release window for Doom: The Dark Ages, a project developed by Microsoft’s internal studios. At the same time, there is no sign that a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be announced in the near future.
In the latest Xbox 2025 Predictions podcast, an insider shared expectations for this year’s lineup. If those statements prove accurate, the calendar would look something like this:
First, the Gears of War Collection could arrive in the early part of summer, bringing the entire series together in one package but without multiplayer modes. The Oblivion remake, according to the insider, is unlikely to be unveiled at the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct and would probably surface later or perhaps not at all. A release window for the remake is penciled in for March or April, and the insider argues it won’t be a blockbuster event.
Additionally, the insider asserts that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth are still planned for Xbox Series X|S. The first port may land this year, with Rebirth following in 2026. There is also chatter about Microsoft possibly bringing Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, reflecting a broader cross-platform approach aimed at expanding the audience.
The Xbox Developer Direct 2025 presentation was teased as a venue to reveal a secret project. Early online chatter has surfaced about which game this could be, though specific details remain unconfirmed.
Real photos of Nvidia’s RTX 5090 have arrived, fueling hardware chatter and hinting at substantial performance gains for PC gamers in an era when console-leaning trends meet new PC acceleration. As reported by VG Times.
