Palworld Guides

How hunger works in Palworld

Every action—from crafting new items to facing opponents—drives hunger up. The hunger bar is shown as an orange indicator in the bottom left corner, beside the health meter. Keeping hunger at full is wise. If the hunger gauge drops, core stats start to fall: vitality, stamina, damage, defense, work speed, and the maximum weight the character can carry decline as well.

How to cook food in Palworld

First, a fire must be lit. This requires one point on the technology screen and costs ten units of wood.

Once the fire is lit, interacting with it (the default F key) reveals a list of dishes. Select a food type, cook it, and wait for the process to finish. The finished dish can then be transferred to the inventory using the action button.

How food satisfies hunger in Palworld

To eat, pick a dish from the inventory and right-click. The rate at which hunger decreases depends on the meal type; for instance, a mammoth steak sustains for longer than a fried egg.

Best recipes early on in Palworld

Simple recipes:

  • Baked berries require one red currant. Red currants grow on shrubs across Palworld’s open world, especially in grasslands.
  • Baked mushrooms use a single mushroom. Mushrooms appear in all regions, so locating them isn’t difficult.
  • Fried egg comes from birds encountered in the wild. Eggs can be obtained by hunting or capturing birds; capturing allows breeding at the base. Early on, Chikibi is a good target as it is among the gentler wild birds.
  • Chikibi on the grill involves frying the Chikibi’s carcass after it is slain.
  • Lambal Kebab uses lamb found throughout the open world.

It’s wise to stock up on cooking ingredients in advance to avoid hunger during crucial moments.

Complex recipes:

  • Juicy Pal Burger needs a cutlet, a roll, lettuce, tomato and onion.
  • Palvoorde stew calls for tomato, onion, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms and meat.
  • Sweet pam cake uses sugar, milk and eggs to create a dessert.

How to store food for a long time in Palworld

Food can spoil over time, becoming inedible. Storing meals in the refrigerator helps preserve their benefits longer. The refrigeration device unlocks at level 13 and requires bricks, blocks, and ice organs to craft. It only works when operated by a firelight that has cooling properties.

How to unlock new recipes in Palworld

As players progress, hunger grows, demanding higher-calorie options. A boiler unlocks at level 17 and requires specific tools:

  • Tree (20)
  • Ingot (15)
  • Flame organ (3)

After installing the boiler, interacting with it expands the available cooking list, including extremely satisfying dishes like pie.
