Lethal Company introduces a cooperative horror experience set across remote worlds, including distant planets and moons. As players advance, they will confront a diverse roster of monsters. Each foe has unique strengths and weaknesses, demanding tailored strategies. This guide outlines effective methods to defeat every adversary encountered in the game.
Deadly Business Directories
While exploring faraway worlds and their satellites, players will meet a variety of monsters that are alive and active. Some creatures are harmless, others pose real danger. This guide compiles the complete Lethal Company bestiary, helping players assess monster types by sound, learn how to eliminate them, and identify foes that are effectively immortal.
Note: The game is in early access, so monster abilities may change. When updates occur, this guide will be revised to reflect new tactics.
Harmless monsters
In this group are several beings that pose no threat to players. They can be killed, but there is little strategic value in doing so. The recommended approach is to ignore them.
Mantic oil
Common avian creatures that do not engage players. They move aside quickly when approached.
Wandering locusts
Small insect flocks scattered across planets. They prefer to flee from players and keep their distance.
Monsters that attack back
These aliens do not strike first but will defend themselves if provoked or approached too closely.
Hamster bug
Loot collectors. Attempting to seize loot found by a monster can provoke an attack. They are not a major threat but should be handled with care.
Spore lizard
Despite a creepy look, this creature is not inherently dangerous. If approached, it may bite and release a smoky cloud that reduces visibility. Retreat quickly when the cloud forms.
Baboon Hawk
Powerful birds that usually keep to themselves but can become aggressive if someone comes within striking range.
Hygroder
A turquoise, acidic goo that dissolves almost everything. It cannot be killed outright, but players can maneuver around it. Distracting it with music is sometimes effective.
Circuit bee
Bees typically guard their hive and will attack if their home is approached. The hive can be valuable, so players may choose to interact with it strategically. Smart tactics include:
- Coordinate with teammates to lure bees away from the hive so allies can retrieve it.
- Be aware that stealing the hive can trigger an aggressive state and wider stinging reactions on the planet.
Aggressive (deadly) monsters
These aliens actively seek out players. Some strike immediately, while others use traps, ambushes, or flanking tactics to overwhelm targets.
Broke
A figure reminiscent of a human that hides in darkness and attacks from behind. It is recognizable by glowing eyes. Direct eye contact can provoke an attack, so brief glances are safest. Fast and elusive, it moves quickly and should be pursued with caution.
Rinse head
Another dangerous foe. It is crucial not to break eye contact; otherwise the creature can kill with swift violence. In encounters, flash grenades can disrupt its advance and provide openings for retreat or counterattack.
Snare flea
These enemies favor ceilings, ambushing from above. They spring onto players to restrain and threaten with strangulation. Allies should intervene when possible. If the element of surprise dissipates, the threat diminishes and retreat or direct combat becomes viable.
Bunker spiders
Traps are their specialty. Spiders weave webs and wait for travelers to fall in. The web can be cut, but once damaged the arachnids will attack. First blind the spider with a flash grenade, then strike. Alternatively, navigate around its habitat entirely to stay safe.
Pistils
Deaf creatures known for a disturbing sound. If they notice a target, they will relentlessly pursue until contact is made. If flanking is not possible, seek higher ground. When retreat is necessary, abruptly changing direction can disrupt momentum as Thumper continues forward due to inertia.
Jester
The battle with this foe unfolds in three phases. It starts by chasing without immediate attack, followed by a music-driven buildup, and finally a skull launched by the Jester that can instantly kill if it lands. The cycle repeats until leaving the planet. It is wise to retreat to the spaceship during the first phase.
Girl
Under an innocent name lies a highly dangerous mutant. It targets a single person, and nearby teammates cannot help the ally. Upon spotting the girl, retreat to the spaceship and depart the planet to avoid a fatal outcome.
Eyeless dog
A supremely dangerous night hunter. If detected, it may summon a pack. Eliminating it is difficult, especially in early stages, and ambushes may occur on ships as well. Ensure compartments are secured to prevent incursions.
Forest ranger
A vast nocturnal entity resembling a tree. If spotted, freeze and wait for it to turn away. Fighting is rarely productive. When it looks away, quickly return to the ship.
Earth Leviathan
A colossal underground creature that only reveals itself on planetary nights. When distant signals strengthen and a loud sound is heard, sprint to the spaceship and depart. The Leviathan is immortal and defeats anyone who stays behind.
