On February 21, the Central Bank revoked QIWI Bank’s license. All card and account operations tied to this system are no longer available. However, if money remains in an account, refunds are possible. Detailed steps can be found in this article.
QIWI’s Russian division included:
- Qiwi Bank (QIWI Bank);
- “QIWI Wallet”;
- “QIWI Business”;
- Money Transfer System Contact.
Currently, the bank’s assets are under temporary administration by the Deposit Insurance Agency. This agency handles all customer-related matters at this time.
This is what the main page of the Qiwi bank website currently presents:
How to return money from a QIWI wallet
It is not possible to transfer funds from QIWI to another bank account with a single click. All funds are categorized as electronic and are not insured. The refund process can take time, so it should be pursued by those who risk losing a substantial amount of money.
Steps to take:
- Print the application and complete it by hand.
- Gather documents proving wallet ownership in QIWI Bank. A passport copy and a telecom operator agreement are required.
- Place the application and documents in an envelope and mail it via Russian Post to the address 117648, Moscow, microdistrict Chertanovo Severnoe, 1A, Building 1, 127994, Moscow, GSP-4, DMA, Temporary Board of QIWI Bank (JSC).
Please note that mailing costs are the responsibility of the sender.
It is important to submit the application while the temporary administration is in effect or within 60 days from the declaration of bankruptcy. Delaying submission risks missing the deadline.
The processing time for each application is up to 30 working days from the date of its registration in the agency’s database. Agency representatives have stated that there are sufficient funds to satisfy all customers.
