Observers note that Rockstar Games plans to broaden the GTA 6 narrative after its launch. This update comes from Tez2, an insider who occasionally shares behind‑the‑scenes details about development.

The insider indicates that Rockstar has learned from GTA V’s missteps. Early plans reportedly included a handful of story-focused DLCs for GTA 5, but those ideas were scrapped to prioritize ongoing support for GTA Online.

The initial wave of content tagged as new cities and missions within the DLC would be mapped out before GTA VI hits shelves. Rockstar would then have the flexibility to allocate resources for every new project once the sixth installment ships.

Regarding the locations, the belief is that many of them will be designed as playable, self-contained environments similar to Cayo Perico or North Yankton. This approach would allow Rockstar to roll out fresh heists for GTA Online with each new DLC release.

News about DLC cities has circulated for some time. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported in late July that the events would unfold in a contemporary Vice City, featuring main characters inspired by the Bonnie and Clyde duo. Following Schreier’s remarks, Axios indicated that Rockstar initially planned three cities but ultimately settled on one. The chatter even touched a playful rumor about a squirrel‑themed game project, which later appeared on Steam with a name and some gameplay previews—Squirrel with a Gun.
