The Disney & Marvel Games Showcase delivered a fresh trailer for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, the upcoming tactical RPG that blends superhero action with strategic battles. A cinematic preview teased the game’s dark, mystical setting and hinted at the room where the Hunter and a diverse roster of heroes will face off against formidable foes.

The event also unveiled an animated prequel tied to the Midnight Suns universe, revealing additional lore and setting the stage for the storytelling to come. This prequel is scheduled to release on October 31, offering fans more context before the main game lands.

A concrete release window was announced: Marvel’s Midnight Suns will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 2. Versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch are planned for a later date, widening access for players across generations.

Development for Midnight Suns is led by Firaxis Games, renowned for genre-defining strategy titles such as Sid Meier’s Civilization and the XCOM series. The project draws its backbone from the 1990s comic arc Rise of the Midnight Sons, and centers on the Hunter, a brand-new character created specifically for this game. Together with other heroes, the Hunter battles the Hydra organization and a demonic force. Lilith, whom the Hunter has awakened, must be stopped. A notable nod to a character from another beloved franchise—2B from Nier: Automata—appears as part of the crossover-inspired umbrella for this world.

At its core, the showcase underscored the blend of tactical combat, narrative weight, and comic-book authenticity that fans expect from this collaboration between Marvel and the strategic minds at Firaxis.
