In this latest cosplay lineup, fans can spot Fiona and the Fairy Godmother from Shrek, Celine from Underworld, Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan, along with two especially rare images: Charlie from Don’t Starve and Harlequin from Warhammer 40,000.

Shadow Heart from Baldur’s Gate 3 by Torie

At the Golden Joystick Awards, Baldur’s Gate 3 secured five awards, including Game of the Year. The Larian Studios team earned recognition as developers of the year, and Neil Newbon, who portrayed Astarion, was highlighted as a standout supporting actor. The game’s cosplay presence has grown, with the half-elf Shadowheart brought to life by Torie. A dedicated article explores this portrayal in depth.

Hot bonus:

After the Witcher trilogy, finding new inspiration proved challenging. Baldur’s Gate 3 offered a refreshing spark, and Shadowheart’s blonde look reminded the creator of Ciri. The plan is to cosplay additional characters from the game in the future.

Celine from the film Another World by Sofia Letyago

Underworld follows the epic clash between vampires and werewolves, centering on Celine, portrayed by Kate Beckinsale. Her character has earned the title of the most powerful vampire after a pivotal moment with the First Immortal, and this striking portrayal was captured by Sofia Letyago.

My cosplay ambitions span multiple universes that left an imprint in childhood. One enduring influence is the gothic interpretation of the vampire-werewolf conflict in Another World. The image of Celine in a latex suit with icy eyes and a poised figure lingered long enough to prompt this recreation when the opportunity arose.

Cosplay Compilations

Fiona from Nesty’s Shrek

This year, DreamWorks Animation signaled the start of work on Shrek 5, with voice talent returning for familiar roles. Fiona, Shrek’s partner, speaks with the voice of Cameron Diaz, and this cosplay was crafted by Nesty.

My cosplay approach leans toward characters who resonate in appearance or personality. Fiona represents the second angle in this regard.

When cosplaying, the creator becomes the heroine. Fiona’s journey—tough beginnings and a hopeful ending—felt worth re-creating. The moment when the princess is left in the tower with the dragon was re-enacted to convey the character’s enduring resolve.

Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2 by Mrs. Oladyshka

The Shrek theme continues with Anna Serebryakova, also known as Mrs. Oladyshka. She portrayed the Fairy Godmother, the cunning antagonist of the second film, who wields magic for personal gain. Anna presents a younger version of her character with a slightly daring reveal.

Hot bonus:

In this creator’s view, the second Shrek installment stands out as a showcase, and the Fairy Godmother embodies a sharp, businesslike charm reminiscent of a certain fashion-forward antagonist. The decision to cosplay this character came from a long-standing fascination with controversial figures and a desire to preserve the heroine’s essence while exploring a modern interpretation.

Charlie from Don’t Starve Together by RossoFiore

In Don’t Starve Together, Charlie appears as the ruler of Persistence, seeing threats in every living thing and directing her shadows to act. The Shadow Queen cosplay was imagined by RossoFiore.

I was captivated by Charlie’s moment of freeing Wilson and sending him through the portal. The internal struggle between darkness and light shaped the character, eventually merging into a single enigmatic queen. While not a pure villain, Charlie bears a heavy past and a complicated goal, a theme that invites further exploration in future work.

Mikasa Ackerman from the anime series Attack on Titan by Oichi

Two years ago, a broad array of cosplays emerged from the final arc of Attack on Titan. On November 4, 2023, fresh stills of Mikasa Ackerman were released in honor of the series’ culmination. A dedicated article remains on the site, exploring the character in greater depth.

Photographer notes and other details accompany the homage, underscoring the continued interest in this iconic character.

Kiana from True Damage (League of Legends) by KamikoZero

With the rise of the virtual group K/DA, Riot Games introduced True Damage, a new musical ensemble for League of Legends characters. The cosplay of Keanu from True Damage was crafted by KamikoZero.

2B from NieR Automata by Tniwe

Even after the NieR Automata anime adaptation, the game still maintains a dedicated following. Cosplayer Tniwe revisited 2B with a latex outfit to highlight the distinctive look.

Harlequin from Warhammer 40,000 by Ilona Candynsjos

Within Warhammer 40,000, Eldar represent a powerful race traveling the galaxy in vast ships. Harlequins, skilled assassins, operate within this universe, while Chaos powers stand as a constant threat. The Harlequin cosplay was created by Ilona Candynsjos.

Mirabelle Chesnoke from Hogwarts Legacy by Zhanna Rudakova

As 2023 closes, gaming outlets look back on the year, highlighting Hogwarts Legacy as a notable addition to the Harry Potter universe in gaming. Mirabelle Chesnoke has gained popularity in cosplay, with Zhanna Rudakova’s work earning attention. The portrayal moves beyond traditional canon, reflecting a bold interpretation of the character.

The Rising of the Shield Hero follows a modern man who is drawn into a parallel world, where he befriends the tanuki girl Raphtalia. The character was interpreted by Shirogane-sama in cosplay.
