Apple has begun informing authorized service center staff that a forthcoming watchOS update is expected to address the battery drain issue reported by some users. This information is communicated to service professionals as part of ongoing firmware support advisories.
The problem with batteries dying quickly appeared after the release of watchOS 10.1, which launched toward the end of October last year. Reports circulating in tech circles indicate that a wide range of Apple wearable models may be affected, spanning from the Apple Watch Series 5 to the newer Ultra 2 family.
In several instances, the battery depletion is observed very rapidly, sometimes dropping from full charge to a noticeably lower level within a short period. A user on a popular social platform shared a firsthand example: after updating to watchOS 10.1, the device’s battery went from 100% to 50% in under an hour. Such anecdotes have contributed to ongoing concerns among owners awaiting a remedy.
At this stage, there is no official date announced for the fix. The advisory notes that an update aimed at addressing the issue will be released soon. While one possibility discussed in early beta cycles is a refined version of watchOS 10.2, some industry insiders suggest that a small corrective release, such as watchOS 10.1.1, could come to market within the coming weeks. Either path would prioritize restoring expected battery endurance for affected devices.
There have also been stray reports of unrelated hardware behavior surrounding recent iPhone releases during this period, but these points do not appear to be connected to the watchOS battery concerns.
