Apple unveiled the beta of VisionOS 1.1, and early testers spotted a potential way to reset Vision Pro if the password is forgotten. The chatter comes from a well known tech publication that covers Apple software previews.

At present, the process to reset Vision Pro must go through the Settings app, and accessing Settings requires entering the device passcode. Without the passcode, users can’t reach Settings, so the device would need physical visitation to an Apple Store or an authorized service center to handle a reset or password recovery.

In the beta iteration of VisionOS 1.1, some observers noted a hint of a feature that would let a user reset the password without visiting a store or service location. This signal appears in a system notification that can surface after multiple failed attempts to unlock the device.

The alert reads that Vision Pro has been locked by security. Users are advised to wait and retry the passcode, or erase and reset Vision Pro immediately, depending on the user’s preference and needs.

Performing a reset is expected to wipe all content from the device. After such a reset, Vision Pro can be set up again from scratch, with a new password chosen by the user and fresh setup steps completed to restore access and reconfigure preferences.

As of now, there is no official public release date for VisionOS 1.1, and Apple has not announced a timeline for rolling out the update to all Vision Pro owners.

Earlier tests have put Vision Pro through rigorous endurance checks, and the results continue to shape expectations for future reliability and user experience enhancements.
