The security services in Ukraine are reporting a suspected cyberattack aimed at Kyivstar, the Ukrainian mobile operator associated with the Russian federation. This development is reported by Ukrayinska Pravda.

Following a major disruption in mobile services affecting Kyivstar subscribers, SBU officers combined forces with cyber specialists from multiple Ukrainian agencies to the company’s offices. The priority is to restore network services and return operations to normal as swiftly as possible.

Prior to this response, the SBU initiated a criminal proceeding in connection with the cyber incident that impacted Kyivstar during the widespread outage.

Ukrayinska Pravda notes that the case has been opened under several legal provisions. The authorities reference charges including unauthorized interference with the operation of information and communication systems, violations of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, treason, sabotage, and breaches of wartime regulations.

Earlier, statements from the Kremlin addressed accusations related to the poisoning of the wife of Ukraine’s GUR head Budanov, a development that has drawn significant attention in regional security discussions. The situation underscores ongoing tensions and the potential for cyber and political actions to intersect in ways that affect public communication and security planning.
