The Pixel 8 series from Google is expected to carry a higher price tag than its predecessors, a claim circulating in the tech press. A well-known industry publication cites European price tags, noting that the information came from an unnamed source who provided figures to journalists.
According to the leak, the Pixel 8 with 128 GB could be priced at 874 euros once VAT is included, with the 256 GB option at 949 euros. For the Pixel 8 Pro, the 128 GB model is projected at 1235 euros, the 256 GB variant at 1309 euros, and the top 512 GB version at 1461 euros. In local currency terms, these figures translate to roughly 91 thousand rubles for the base Pixel 8 and around 99 thousand rubles for the 256 GB Pixel 8, while the Pro models would hover near 128 to 136 thousand rubles for 128 and 256 GB respectively, with the 512 GB edition approaching 152 thousand rubles.
For context, the previous generation saw Pixel 7 prices start around 650 euros for the base model, and about 900 euros for the Pixel 7 Pro, figures that roughly correspond to 68 thousand and 94 thousand rubles at the time.
Inside information shared with GSMArena also touched on color options for the new devices. The Pixel 8 is expected in Hazel, Obsidian, Rose, and Mint, while the Pixel 8 Pro would be offered in Bay, Obsidian, Porcelain, and Mint hues.
GSMArena describes the anticipated price jump as substantial and has urged readers to approach the leaks with skepticism, noting that pricing can change before the official launch.
Meanwhile, there has been chatter about the direction of Google’s hardware ambitions, reflecting a broader trend among major smartphone makers to position premium devices at higher price points as features and materials evolve.
