In 2024, OnePlus is expected to debut a branded smartwatch with a circular display, according to Android Authority and an insider connected to Max Jambor.
Today OnePlus offers two wearable options: the OnePlus Watch, launched in 2021, and the budget-friendly OnePlus Nord Watch, released in 2022. Both devices function more like fitness bands than complete smartwatches, lacking some of the advanced features seen on top rivals. Yet the company is poised to expand its lineup with a round-dial Watch 2 in 2024, aiming to be recognized as a true smartwatch rather than a fitness tracker alone.
The circulating chatter suggests a 466 by 466 pixel display and processing powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, complemented by an energy-efficient BES 2700 co-processor. With the display on, features such as an eSIM-ready connection, blood oxygen monitoring, stress tracking, sleep analytics, exercise logging, and even an electrocardiogram could be part of the experience. These elements would position the new watch as a comprehensive health and productivity companion, rather than a basic wearable.
Pricing remains unconfirmed, though the inaugural OnePlus watch carried a price point around $159 at launch. Whether the Watch 2 will follow a similar entry level or push into higher segments remains to be seen as OnePlus markets a more capable smartwatch to a broader audience.
Previously, questions have circulated about the direction of OnePlus as a brand and the ventures of its leadership. Reports have noted that a co-founder’s new venture included an unrelated project, such as a venture into beer production, highlighting the diverse interests and entrepreneurial spirit surrounding the company and its founders.
