The iFORA big data analysis system underpins a comprehensive assessment by the HSE Institute for Statistical Research and Information Economics, which projects the global metaverse market could reach 5.8 trillion dollars by 2030. The study carries a projected compound annual growth rate near 45 percent as the sector expands. A related University report outlines likely trajectories for metaverse technologies that are expected to see strong demand in the near and mid term across global markets.

Economics scholars contend that the metaverse has emerged as a pivotal technology trend of 2022, driven by a sharp increase in demand for immersive virtual reality experiences and online interactions intensified by public health measures. Looking ahead to 2023, researchers note a shift in attention among the public and investors toward AI powered applications such as ChatGPT and Midjourney, yet metaverse platforms continue to occupy a central position in conversations about technological progress.

In their analysis, HSE experts evaluated the significance of individual technologies within metaverse development by examining how often each technology appears in scientific literature. Immersive virtual reality, including haptic feedback, tops the list, with experts forecasting widespread adoption within the next four to six years. The second group comprises systems for identifying and visually tracking three dimensional objects in space, followed by systems capable of recognizing human actions through methods like skeletonization. Industry projections indicate that mass deployment of these technologies could unfold within one to two years.

The assessment also highlights the growing role of head mounted displays and other edge devices, ultra-sensitive neural networks, generative adversarial networks, motion capture and hand-gesture recognition systems, real-time visualization, and VR simulation, along with digital twin models and VR based training environments. The coordinated development and broad deployment of these technologies are expected to occur within a five year horizon.

Industry observations from former Russian retail analysts suggest that a large portion of Russian consumers is inclined to purchase smart speakers with integrated voice assistants, reflecting a trend toward voice-enabled devices in everyday life.
