The developer and publisher Pearl Abyss has announced another milestone for Black Desert Online. The game now counts 55 million registered players across all platforms, contributing to impressive revenue in the billions of won since its PC launch in South Korea eight years ago. To mark the occasion, the studio revealed the arrival of the Scholar class for PlayStation and Xbox, slated for release on Wednesday, March 6.
Another year, another round of excitement
Following a 2023 filled with awards and vibrant community events, the team behind the game is committed to delivering a robust 2024 with deeper content, community celebrations, and meaningful incentives. March will be packed with celebratory activities over multiple platforms as the game heads toward its fifth console anniversary and the fourth year of cross‑platform compatibility, with the Scholar class debuting on Xbox and PlayStation on March 6.
“The aim for 2024 is to make Black Desert faster, more accessible, and appealing to players at every level,” explained Jaehee Kim, the game’s executive producer. “This eighth anniversary marks progress toward that goal, and we will keep pushing even further.”

The PC community team will host a live stream combining the anniversary with the famous “War of the Two Roses” on Sunday, March 3, where topics will include the best art and screenshot submissions of the year, in‑game hide and seek, a concert, related streams, contests, and additional activities.
Console players will enjoy a calendar full of events, contests, and discounts as well. Highlights include a +400% experience boost and a daily login reward of 2,200 Cronilita, along with special in‑store offers. These festivities come with generous discounts intended to attract new adventurers.
The Scholar class
The Scholar is the female archetype introduced as the 27th class in Black Desert Console. She is an alchemist who commands gravity with mastery. Fighting with two types of hammers, she strikes with speed and power, and her gravity skills allow her to misdirect foes with unpredictable movements and overwhelming counterattacks.
Xbox and PlayStation players will also see tweaks in response to feedback from PC players. Mobility on sloped terrain has been adjusted, and combat speed has been increased overall by refining key ability animations and broadening available combos.”
