In Russia, they developed a domestic analogue of the Raspberry Pi microcomputer, which fits in the human palm. This was reported to socialbites.ca by the authors of the project residing in Skolkovo, the IT company RainbovSoft. Development is carried out jointly with the partner NPO “Intellect”.

It is stated that the launch of the production of new products called Repka Pi is planned for October 2022. The authors stated that the small size single board computer has 15-20% better performance than Raspberry Pi 3.

Russian development has its own operating system with a suite of necessary programs. Repka Pi will be delivered as part of an educational platform for teaching programming. In addition, the innovation can be used to interact with devices in the industry and as an embedded data collection system.

According to the developers, Repka Pi is based on an ARM 64 processor with four cores of the Cortex A53 architecture, but unlike its counterpart, it has more RAM.

RainbowSoft assured that development and production will be carried out entirely in a Russian enterprise, and that the computer’s element base will be partially sourced from China. Dimensions, main interfaces and appearance are the same as Raspberry Pi 3.

Anatoly Ryabov, head of RainbovSoft, said that the idea for the project arose against the background of imposing sanctions against Russia. “Our platform will take the training of IT professionals to a new level,” he said.

Raspberry Pi in 2019 entered the top 3 The most important and influential devices of the decade, according to the American magazine Time.
