Microsoft has confirmed that there is an issue in the Windows 11 operating system that causes undeletable files to accumulate on users’ computers. about this reported Neowin edition.

In early October, some users who installed the 24H2 update noticed that undeletable files appeared on their computers after installation, the total volume of which was about 9 gigabytes. Microsoft later confirmed the existence of a bug that could lead to the creation of “junk” files.

Microsoft explained that disk cleanup after an update correctly removes some or all of the files and frees up disk space as expected. However, in some cases, some documents may remain on disk.

The company promised to investigate the reason for the appearance of extra files and to inform Windows 11 users about the results in the near future. Information about the problem is already available on the Microsoft website.
