Spying detected through abandoned network equipment in China

Chinese authorities have recently detected a number of cases of espionage and attempts to steal confidential information from abroad using unused or abandoned network equipment. This was reported by TASS Referring to the Ministry of State Security of the People’s Republic of China.

The ministry emphasized that outdated equipment in China emerged in the face of rapid modernization of Internet technologies. In some cases, it is used as a backdoor through which important information is leaked.

The Ministry stated that such situations seriously threaten the security of China’s cyberspace and data.
