Members of the community on the Telegram messenger discussing attacks on schools could face up to 15 years in prison. RIA Novosti – said the head of the law enforcement center in Moscow and the Moscow region, lawyer Alexander Khaminsky.
“Creation of such chats and participation in them can be classified by law enforcement as organization of a terrorist organization and participation in it. Moreover, even ordinary participants of such communities in Telegram face up to 15 years in prison, and organizers – up to 20 years in prison,” he said.
The head of the center added that members of such communities can also be held responsible for hooliganism. A similar outcome of events is possible if investigators fail to prove the intention to create a terrorist community and actual preparation for a terrorist attack.
Khaminsky noted that it is possible to avoid punishment and avoid criminal liability. To do this, participants in such communities must voluntarily leave the chat and report their presence to law enforcement.
