Author of NJ Tech YouTube channel spent Comparison of the older GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card and the current budget RTX 4060 in games at 1080p resolution.
The test used a PC based on an AMD Ryzen 5 7500F processor and 32GB of DDR5 6000MHz RAM. In our tests, the GTX 1060 achieved an average of 94fps in Apex Legends at max settings and TSAA, while the RTX 4060 achieved 196fps. A more “heavier” Alan Wake 2: Using FSR2/DLAA and the high preset, the GTX 1060 achieved 17fps and the RTX 4060 achieved 53fps.
Cyberpunk 2077 with the Phantom Liberty add-on ran at 41 fps on the GTX 1060 and 83 fps on the RTX 4060 with high settings. The GTX 1060 graphics card showed 65 fps in the Counter Strike 2 shooter at very high settings, the RTX 4060 – 150 fps.
On average, according to the test of 11 games, the GTX 1060 provided 44 fps, while the RTX 4060 reached 103 fps. Therefore, in 2024, a cheap GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card is not able to provide a decent level of performance compared to the budget RTX 4060, which can be purchased for an average of 35 thousand rubles. In addition, the more up-to-date model supports ray tracing and DLSS 3.5 technology, which provides a smoother gaming experience.
