Senator, Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy under the Federation Council Artem Sheikin stated There should be a ban on the sale of iPhones in Russia if Apple does not provide the ability to install applications through the Russian RuStore store, RIA Novosti reports.

Previously in the State Duma was introduced A bill aimed at preventing discrimination against Russian applications in foreign stores such as the App Store and Google Play. The bill provides for the mandatory installation and updating of applications through a single RuStore store on all smartphones sold in Russia, as well as payment through this store.

Sheikin noted that if RuStore is not possible to install on Apple devices, its sales should be limited. Currently, Android smartphones support the installation of a native app store, while Apple devices do not. He noted that foreign companies must comply with the requirements of Russian legislation, otherwise the sale of their products may be banned.

The senator emphasized that the bill is aimed at protecting the rights of citizens of the Russian Federation and that manufacturers or sellers will be required to provide for the installation of a domestic application store on smartphones.

Previously reportedHe said that the price of the flagship iPhone model in Russia dropped by 40%.
