Popular Russian tech blogger Sergey Romantsev, known as Romancev768, published a review of an AI gadget called AI Pin. Check out the video available on the blogger’s YouTube channel.
AI Pin is a wearable device powered by generative artificial intelligence. It doesn’t have a built-in screen and instead uses a projector to display the image in the palm of your hand. Additionally, the AI Pin is equipped with a built-in microphone and camera that can be used to communicate with the AI assistant and take photos and videos.
But as Romantsev noted, to view media files you will need to go to the company’s website, where you can download all photos and videos uploaded from another device. Moreover, the video will not be uploaded to the cloud until the user connects the AI Pin to charging.
According to Romantsev, this device cannot compete with modern smartphones. First, it only works in English and does not understand spoken Russian sentences. Secondly, to use this device you need to subscribe to the $24 monthly subscription. This price includes access to neural network functions and payment of the tariff of the American operator, as well as fees that you must pay for roaming to use AI Pin in other countries. At the same time, the gadget itself is purchased separately for $ 700.
Romantsev also noted that if the device is attached to a T-shirt, it comes into contact with the user’s body and the device becomes uncomfortable to use due to heating. He called the main drawback of the AI Pin the operating time on a single charge – up to 20 minutes during use or up to an hour in standby mode.
The only way AI Pin could be useful is if it acts as a voice assistant for people with low vision.
