South African father and son Luke and Mike Bell created the world’s fastest FPV drone, Peregrine 2, which broke the previous speed record and entered the Guinness Book of Records. In this respect reports Interesting Engineering (IE) publication.
The Peregrine 2 drone reached a speed of 480.23 km/h, surpassing both the previous record holder and the Red Bull team’s professional drone designed specifically for filming Formula 1 auto races.
The creation of a high-speed drone was associated with a number of difficulties; the most important of which was the problem of frequent failures of cables and power units due to the high current required to power electric motors. Despite this, enthusiasts managed to find a reliable solution and their creations began to show extraordinary results.
For the record to be officially recognized, the drone had to fly a section of 100 meters in both directions. Peregrine 2 reached an average speed of 480.23 km/h, well above the previous record of 360.5 km/h set by American Ryan Lademann.
Despite the fact that each increase in speed will be more difficult, Luke and Mike Bell plan to continue working on their project and improving the drone.
Previously in the USA developed Jet drone Razor supporting combat missiles.
