Telegram messenger still has not removed more than 120 thousand illegal materials after requests from Roskomnadzor. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the department.
It was announced that approximately 505 illegal materials on the Twitch platform have still not been removed.
The Ministry reminded that by law, the owner of a hosting or Internet resource must remove illegal content within 24 hours, and in some cases immediately, after receiving a request from Roskomnadzor. Administrative liability is provided for failure to remove content, and in case of repeated violations, fines can reach up to 20% of the Internet company’s annual income.
According to the Ministry, the amount of fines to be imposed on Telegram Messenger Inc. in 2022 was 15 million rubles and 8 million rubles in 2023.
Telegram users in Russia and Ukraine as of April 29, 2024 started to get Messenger moderators’ polls on blocking political channels. Shortly before this, Pavel Durov talked about blocking some news channels in Ukraine in order to combat propaganda.
