Most Russians prefer to play video games on the computer. This was stated in a joint study by Citylink and GMNG, a Russian manufacturer of gaming peripherals brand available on socialbites.ca.
So, while 60% of respondents prefer gaming on PC, less than a quarter (22%) use ultrabooks or office laptops for gaming, and 18% use gaming laptops. Consoles were not taken into account in this study.
More than half of the respondents (58%) prefer to play games on weekends, while the rest prefer weekdays for gaming. At the same time, almost half of the respondents (47%) play games for less than an hour a day, 39% devote up to 4 hours to games, and 10% devote 4 to 6 hours to games. Only 3% of participants can spare more time for hobbies.
As for favorite genres, the leaders among respondents were strategies (34%) and shooters (33%).
The survey results revealed that for the majority, gaming is a personal hobby: 75% play alone, 13% play online, and only 12% play with friends and family.
The majority of participants (60%) stated that their closest circle (relatives and parents) were more likely to support their hobbies, 17% were more likely to condemn, and 23% were neutral. Not everyone pays enough attention; 38% of participants want their loved ones to be more interested in games. At the same time, more than a third of respondents (36%) say they regularly or often face reprimand for their hobbies.
More than 800 people participated in the survey: the majority were men (67%), and the ages of those surveyed ranged from 18 to 56 years and older.
