Microsoft has begun testing an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot on Xbox that aims to improve and speed up customer support. In this respect reports The Verge’s edition.

Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans told The Verge that the software giant is testing an animated Xbox AI “embodied AI character” to answer questions about Xbox support. The Xbox AI chatbot connects to support documentation from Microsoft and the Xbox ecosystem; thus, it can answer questions about the operation of gaming systems and even process users’ refund requests for games they do not like.

“We are actually testing a virtual Xbox support representative. The internal prototype is an animated character that can fix Xbox service issues. The prototype makes it easier and faster for players to get help. The neural network responds using natural language elements as well as information from existing Xbox support pages,” said Haiyang Zhang, Xbox general manager of gaming AI, in response to questions from The Verge.

It has not been announced when the full version of the service will be released. It is also unknown whether it will work outside the US.

Earlier it turned out that Amazon urgently closes stores without cash registers due to weak AI.
