Telegram developers plan to reduce download speeds for users without paid subscriptions. In this respect reports Telegram channel “Dvach”.
It was discovered in the source code of the Telegram application that the messenger would limit the download and upload speed of files for users without paid subscriptions if they exceed the traffic limit.
No details regarding the limit have been released yet. It is assumed that they plan to limit the speed to 10 Mbit/s for 60 minutes (and will continue to do so when this limit is repeatedly exceeded).
When Pavel Durov announced the subscription to Telegram Premium, he promised that all the functions available at that time would not be limited in any way in relation to users of the free version of the messenger. But almost two years have passed since then. During this time, Telegram gained millions of new users, which apparently caused the developers to somewhat re-evaluate the work of the messenger for more uninterrupted work.
One of the functions announced at the launch of Telegram Premium is “Accelerated downloading”, which allows you to download photos, videos and other files without speed limits. For users in Russia, subscription is offered for 299 per month.
