Scammers have found new ways to extort money from Russians over the internet. This was reported by TASS In a joint material with the Federal Chamber of Notaries.

One of the most popular fraud methods today remains the so-called legendary notarized power of attorney.

“According to legend, the documents fell into the hands of unknown villains who, with their help, would withdraw all the money from a person’s accounts or sell his apartment. To dispose of the property, the study asks the victim to take a proactive approach, selling the house on his own, transferring the proceeds, as well as all his savings, to a designated “safe account”.

No less popular means of extortion are phone calls, as well as QR codes and electronic signatures that invite users to move to fake sites or participate in fraud related to the sale of property over the Internet.
