Digital Foundry experts in their latest podcast approved Rumors about the development of the PlayStation 5 Pro console and diluted them with new details. According to experts, the price of the updated version of the console will increase to $ 600.
Digital Foundry first analyzed the features of the device, which were previously known from leaks. So, PS5 Pro will receive a 16-thread eight-core processor from AMD with Zen 2 architecture – the same is used in the base version of the console. The only difference of the new product will be the use of an increased frequency from 3.5 GHz to 3.8 GHz, which will only provide a slight performance increase in processor-oriented games.
The video card will receive a significant improvement in the RNDA 3 GPU with 60 computing units instead of the RDNA 2 architecture, which will lead to an increase in computing power from 10.23 teraflops to 33.5 teraflops and a 45% increase in real performance. The amount and type of RAM will remain the same – 16 GB GDDR6, but the bandwidth will be increased up to 576 GB / s, significantly speeding up data processing.
Another innovation in the PS5 Pro will be hardware support for PlayStation Spectral Resolution (PSSR) technology and Variable Rate Shading (VRS) to upscale images to quality comparable to NVIDIA DLSS.
According to preliminary estimates, the price of the new console will start from $ 599. Moreover, at this price, a model without a disk drive will most likely be offered.
