Apple is developing an unusual version of the iPhone with a side-mounted touchscreen with buttons. In this respect reports Apple Insider portal with a link to the company’s patent application approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
As planned, the side screen will not only improve the appearance of the device, but also expand its functionality. Apple developers plan to use this area to house interactive controls such as volume buttons and track buttons. This eliminates the clutter of the home screen, allowing you to view critical information like battery level and weather.
The side-screen solution is similar in functionality to the Touch Bar display used on MacBook Pro laptops. It is unclear whether Apple will integrate this technology into future iPhone models because the existence of a patent does not guarantee that the company will implement it.
