The popular WhatsApp messaging app has stopped working on some Huawei smartphones for Russian users. In this respect reports Business FM (BFM) broadcast.

Users of unofficial WhatsApp clients have encountered a problem. Since there is no original application in the AppGallery store, Russians install it. Now when you launch unofficial clients, they display an error asking you to use the original app. It is impossible to ignore this error, as the program immediately closes with the dialog box.

One of the Russian women who encountered the problem told BFM that Meta (known as extremist and banned in Russia) began disabling unofficial WhatsApp clients on March 8. Before this, the app she used had been informing her for two weeks that she needed to switch to the official app.

“But it is impossible to download the official version because AppGallery is not compatible with Google services,” said one dissatisfied user.

According to him, he managed to fix the problem by installing WhatsApp from the .apk installation file recommended to him by an “unfortunate comrade”. Not sure if this version of the app will remain unblocked for long.

Expert Sergei Polovnikov, in his interview with BFM, said that the only solution to the problem in the long term is to switch from a Huawei smartphone to another device with Android installed.
