In less than the first three months of 2024, more video and audio deepfakes have been detected on the internet than in all of 2023. In this regard, St. In an interview with St. Petersburg TV channel said Head of T.Hunter Investigation Department, NTI SafeNet market expert Igor Bederov.

“Compared with 2022, the number of video deepfakes increased threefold in 2023, and the number of audio deepfakes increased eightfold! Just over half a million deepfakes have been recorded worldwide in 2023. We have already broken the previous record with half a million deepfakes detected in 2024,” Bederov said.

According to the expert, deepfake technologies are becoming increasingly accessible to the public, which leads to an increase in their use in criminal activities. Bederov believes that to slow down this trend in Russia, it is necessary to introduce legal regulations on the operation of neural network models, as well as toughen penalties for violations of the rules on the processing of audio and visual information by developers and users of artificial intelligence.

“With just a few years of development, deepfakes will become so indistinguishable from the original that they can only be detected using special artificial intelligence models,” the expert warned.

Previously in the USA was created Artificial intelligence drone that hunts people on its own.
